Operational excellence in isolation management
3 MINUTE READ
By addressing technical and human elements, Secora set a new benchmark in data-driven safety solutions and comprehensive training for mining operations.
THE PROJECT
This project aimed to improve safety and efficiency in the isolation processes of a large Queensland mining operation.
WHO WE WORKED WITH
Secora worked with the coal mine team and digital permitting system specialists to optimise the Isolation Management System (IMS).
THE CHALLENGE
The existing IMS faced data inaccuracies and lacked seamless integration, posing safety risks and reducing efficiency. A comprehensive review and overhaul were necessary.
WHAT WE DID
Leveraging its extensive experience in operational and safety enhancements, Secora utilised its 3-Phase deployment methodology: Understand, Analyse, Implement.
Key actions included:
Digital Permitting System Integration: Enhanced digital permitting for real-time visibility and accuracy.
Master Isolation Database (MID): Created a central repository for isolation data, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and informed decision-making.
Process Standardisation: Developed standardised permit templates for common tasks and ensuring that isolation planning is integrated into the broader work management framework.
Training: Implemented comprehensive training programs.
THE RESULTS
Enhanced Safety: Reduced safety risks with an accurate, streamlined IMS.
Operational Efficiency: Improved efficiency through standardised planning and digitised processes.
Improved Decision-Making: MID provided detailed plant overviews for better decisions.
Increased Competency: Elevated workforce proficiency in isolation management.
The mine continues to focus on continuous improvement, leveraging insights from this project to maintain safety and efficiency.
